Summer Holidays - SOLD

I wanted to announce that I'll be on a hiatus til 15th June without pictures of earrings or creations, but my itchy fingers picked up some lovely beads and 14K gold hoops. So these will be named Summer Holidays instead. They are basking in the sun enjoying a little tan, while I slave away within the comforts of my room and yearning for the time to get a tan. *And yes I really am going on a hiatus, I'm suddenly laden with a number of projects and assignments, on top of my coming exams. Partially it's itchy backside with the numerous projects and of course the mounting pressure of my thesis, that I really am way behind on. I will talk more about my projects after the proposal is approved. I will still accept orders, just no new customization projects and no new items for now til after June 15th. Although I have a niggling feeling I'll still play with my beads when the itch comes again. Here's another pair that's inspired by the animes I watch. Inoue and Tatsuki are a pair of good friends in Bleach. (On Earring Addict, they're also good friends with Umeko) Since Inoue is the girly sweet girl, she gets the peach dagger Japanese cloth encased in acrylic earrings while Tatsuki's the tomboyish friend who'd protect her dear friend with her karate chops and natural athletic abilities. Both of them measures 6.5cm. Tatsuki's wire wrapped with sterling silver and white gold plated earhooks, while Inoue's 14K gold plated earhooks with tarnish-resistant wires.

1) I have $35 vouchers for KR+, a hair salon opened by Kim Robinson, yes the man who gives hair cuts for $400. Don't worry hairstyling by other stylists are a lot more affordable at $75, so after using the vouchers it's $40. I know you'll go like what?!! $75 is cheap?!! This is my personal opinion, I don't spend a lot of money on clothes and other stuff but I'd save it for a haircut coz a haircut really makes a difference to how a person looks. I used to have long layered hair which I allowed my stylist, Vincent Soh, to chop off. He not only chopped off my hair, he also chopped off a few years off my age. To that I'm ever thankful, coz I've never had anyone said I look younger than my age before that haircut and I'm 23 and counting. Which is quite sad. Plus I suppose most of us have haircuts which normally cost $25-$35?, (It seems haircuts are getting expensive, or do I just happen to go to the expensive places?!) so topping up a few more dollars to try a new haircut isn't that huge a price jump. You can always decide whether you'd wanna continue his services.

You can ask for a few more vouchers if you know of people who'd appreciate a good haircut. I never knew what a good haircut was before I met him, but now I know. I recommend him not just because he's a really good hairstylist, he was handpicked by Kim Robinson for this salon, but also because he said this,"I don't think I want my customers to pay $400 for a haircut by me, as long as they are happy with the haircut tbat I give, it's not the amount of money they pay which makes me happy." (Not exact words, but the gist is there) Which is kind of the same philosophy that I have here. I do not need to charge high prices for my creations but as long as you're happy with them when you receive it, that is enough to make me happy.

So after all my longwindedness there's a point no. 2:
I'm introducing a new policy where upon receiving your purchase and you realise that it doesn't look as good as the photo and you do not like them. You're free to return the pieces to me within 3 days and I'll refund the price of the earrings minus postage to you. I will put the earrings up for sale after cleaning the earrings with antiseptic wipes and checking procedures to ensure it's good to go to the next new owner.

So to sum up, $35 haircut vouchers for KR+ and refunds for purchases within 3 days! It sure took me many words to say such a short sentence.

Magatama Collection - Sold

Magatama are comma shaped stones and I came across them when I first used to watch this anime where this girl who's very blur and ditsy and bimbotic but was bestowed/given a magatama which belonged to her and made her the King of Fighters sorta thing. So she went on to fight different fighters from different schools and won with the help of the powers summoned from the magatama.

"They are often romanticised as indicative of the Yamato Dynasty of Japan. Some consider them to be an Imperial symbol, although in fact ownership was widespread throughout all the chieftainships of Kofun Period Japan. It is believed that magatama were popularly worn as jewels for decoration, in addition to their religious meanings. In this latter regard they were later largely replaced by Buddhist prayer beads in the Nara period.

In modern Japan, the magatama's shape of a sphere with a flowing tail is still the usual visual representation of the human spirit (hitodama). Wearing one during life is considered a way of gaining protections from kami." (Source: Wikipedia)


The gemstones of the Magatama from left to right are rose quartz, green aventurine, amethyst, peach aventurine and blue goldstone. Rose quartz promotes love and peace and overall well being; green aventurine for luck and apparently the story is that if you put it in your left pocket when you buy lottery you'll win money, so something for the weekend punters or for those who would like more money; amethyst helps to calm the mind and connect with your spiritual nature; peach aventurine brings good luck; amber for creativity and helps you to accept change and follow your dreams and blue goldstone for wisdom!

The stones have really pretty inclusions which I did not manage to capture on the camera, which is a real pity. So if you bring them home, take a look at them carefully and you'll know what I mean. Especially where most stones bought locally tend to have little inclusions and quartz traces, these are really a joy to observe.

Length of 14k gold chain is 21" and would end where a normal length necklace does. If you prefer it in silver, let me know. Remember customization is available to make the piece truly personal and unique to you.

Of course at bazaars we make some money and a few friends. =) Here's two friends that I'd like to introduce to you, Chocolove Closet and Knotty Bicsie!! Chocolove Closet's run by a spunky girl who sells Men's Clothes, Belts, Ties, Leather Goods at affordable prices. It's a refreshing change from the usual female clothing don't you think? So if you hear your guy friends lamenting that local blogshops only cater to females you can now prove them wrong. Their wide range of shirts are suitable for work and casual dos and very affordable. They're even 2-ply cotton, which spells very good quality shirts. If you don't like shopping online, they'll be at Clarke Quay for a night bazaar on 25th & 26th May between 6pm-12mn. So if your friends get turned away due to sloppy dressing there's on the spot rescue. Hehe. Oh yeah Father's Day will be coming soon, so you can get something from her for your dad too!

The other lady is Knotty Bicsie who knits cute little baby booties, handphone pouches and even shoes for adults. Really cool actually. She also has these cute little fluffies which go on handphones and i'm sure with your creativity it can go on bags, pencil cases, your tops even on your hair. Haha, or is it just me with strange ideas on what things can do. Now she's venturing into paintings combined with her knitting pieces, that is so cool. You should check it out, plus she's a rugby fan so that makes her even cooler to me, coz I seldom find girls who're rugby fans like me. But that's a story for another time. =P She'll be at MAAD come 2nd & 3rd of June from 11am - 7pm. If you haven't already heard, MAAD is held at the Red Dot Museum at Tanjong Pagar, they showcase really cool artists and it's a wonderful platform for local creative talents, be it music, art craft, paintings, t-shirts, accessories and many other creative stuff.

Since I've plugged for them, now it's time for some self advertisement. Haha! I'll be at RJC this Friday for the RProject, which is a charity fashion show case for their own designers and bazaar. All the proceeds that they earn (vendor's rent, fashion show tickets, which are still available and comes with goodie bags! VIP tickets at $10) from this event goes to the Dove Self Esteem Fund which personally I feel it's really good. In Abnormal Psych we learn about eating disorders and their related issues, and it's very painful to see these girls living life like that because of self esteem issues and what the media promotes, or as a means to control their life as the other parts of their life spirals beyond their control. More awareness on seeking help and subsidies for treatment would really help these girls and more of us be aware on how to help our friends. So anyway I'll be at RJC 18th May, 5.30-7pm. If you're there say hi! =)
